Early season bite is officially on. Hit Tapps late afternoon working Dike 3. Made a few casts with a crankbait and decided to switch to Blue Fox Super Vibrax #3. There was a set of logs submerged about 25 yards off the shoreline. My 3rd or 4th cast. BINGO,he hit so hard that for 5 seconds,I thought I had hooked up with a muskie. He made a jump, then saw he was a smallie. I would estimate about 2.5 pounds. Hooked up shortly after with another, much smaller. A great day on the water. The bite is on.

Hey,thanks everyone. I wont lie. I think their was a lot of luck that day. I had 2 reasons for being there, the rest was up to the fish. I chose the north end due to being warmer and found a nice clump of downed logs and thought"Hey,thats some good structure" Thats it. It was up to the smallies after that.

That 2.5er. Not all that big,but honestly. I can't really describe the hit....Just fast with a ton of power behind it. Totally unreal.
