It was cold and cloudy all day. The front end of Beda Lake was frozen, so my long-time fishing friend Eldon Rickman and I had to hike around the Lake. Fortunately, the main body of the Lake was free of ice and so float tubing was quite pleasant. The water was relatively calm and we were the only two crazy souls except several orange-vested bird hunters around the Lake. We both used Type 5 full sinking lines and 12-3X Olive Woolybuggers. I could not get any strike at all, but Eldon landed 3 rainbows. One was a beautiful, 6-pound, 21-inch-long Triploid, and two others were 17-inch-long rainbows. Even though I could not catch any, seeing my friend landing a gorgeous-looking Triploid was much more exciting than watching college football games.
It appears that we may be able to fish Beda again next week. Hopefully, I can catch a few next week and also will see a few more crazy souls other than us two.
