Hit Stevens today from about 7:00 till 11:00 today. Water temp 51-52f. Beautiful morning to be on the water. My son caught a kokanee right off the bat flat lining a homemade wedding ring in red and brass tipped with a third of a nightcrawler while I was trolling green and brass with a maggot/egg/corn@ 25ft with a slingblade. Green has always been my morning color. Not this morning. Was the boys first koke and he was happy. I got skunked. That's ok, I'll get mine.
This is my hometown lake, I've lived and fished here for 20 years. In the last 2 years there has emerged quite a following for the sport of rowing, now it seems if I manage to get on the water before the skiers I'll randomly be subjected to someone with a bullhorn yelling at rowers. They've also all but shut down the downtown launch on a few weekends. I had some lady in a bayliner chase me down and almost wreck us both last year because she said I was going too fast in my 40yr old 14' starcraft 25hrs combo on the biggest lake in the county. This due to a rowing comp on the other side of the lake. She actually overtook me and cut me off while I was on a plane doing 30 mph.
I love this lake and in a couple weeks the fishing is going to be hot, but I don't know how much more of that I can take.
