Well this was our first trip to Rufus and it was great. We fished on Thur and on Fri. Thur the wind blew pretty good and there was not much current but the fishing was great. We caught between 50 and 60 fish for 5 hours of fishing and we lost many others. We caught the most fish out on the bar, but our biggest fish were caught closer to shore around the pens in 25 feet of water. We only kept one fish to eat on Thur night and it was awesome over an open fire. Fri was a much nicer day and the current was rippin pretty good. We did not catch as many fish but we still had pretty steady action. The best lure for us was a black maribou jig, we caught the majority of the fish on black lures. I did flyfish for a while pitching a black home made wooly bugger, did well but was not getting the bigger fish so I went back to the spin rod. We all caught our lifetime best rainbows which was cool. My buddy caught the biggest one, we thought that it was in the 10 pound range, the picture does not really do the fish justice, because it was fat as all get out. It measured 27 inches, how big do you guys think it is? Fun trip and we will be going back. Thank you to all that helped me with what to use and where to fish, we would have been pretty blind out there if we would not have gotten help. Great place.
