After spending the day in the sun taking care of the lawn, I decided I needed a break and headed up to Silver Lake. I figured it would be a bit less crowded since it was opening day. Went to the square dock on the east side of the lake (near the restaurant). Got there around 7PM. There were about 7 other people there, but it's a big dock, so plenty of space. The clouds had already started to cover the sun, so I figured I'd try to hit top first. I noticed the fish rolling just beyond my casting distance of my UL setup. Didn't get anything, but they were out there teasing us. One guy was able to get his kastmaster out there right in front of a rolling trout and got him to bite, but it didn't stick. It's been a while since I'd seen that lake as smooth and quiet. Enough to see the fish rolling. It was fun to get out again after such a long time.
