Unbelievable day at Pine lake!!!! My buddy and I were the first boat on the water this morning at 6am. I started with an olive bunny leech and was getting a hit every 10 seconds on a sinking fly line trolling on 1. Most of them were on the surface. Unfortunately the these fish were a little hard to hook. They love to hit that rabbit strip tail and just miss the hook! I did manage to land about 10 in the first hour by switching to an olive woolly bugger. My buddy landed about 6 as well trolling a fly with spinning gear. I had just tied up a lot of different flies so I figured I would give some other ones a try. Had great success with a black bunny leech w/ red krystal flash tail and surprisingly had the same type of success with a red bunny leech. Another buddy showed up around 8 so we took turns trading places in the boat. My buddy Michael caught a 4lb monster off a friends dock with power bait. That was the fish of the day. All in all we stopped fishing around 11:30 to eat lunch and shortly afterwards both my buddies took off, but I stuck around and boy am I glad I did. I threw another home tied wooly bugger variation and finished the day with about 50 fish all C & R except one I gave to my friend. The early afternoon was unreal. I was getting a fish ever 2-3 minutes for awhile trolling a fly around the south bay of the lake. I have to say this has got to be the hottest lake on the Eastside right now, all the other reports coming out for Pine are great. It wasn't too busy on the lake but the dock was packed as usual. Definately a 5 star day.
