A gave this a three star rating, because any day where you can catch a four pound (nineteen inch) bass is a great day, at least for me.

I went out to woodhouse loop ponds again, and fished the same ponds as I did during my last trip (see post from 4/30). On my fourth cast, using a Kalin's 5 inch grub on a quarter ounce jighead, I had a nice four pound, nineteen inch, largemouth hammer my bait. It put on a great fight and peeled out a fair amount of line. I finally had to tighten up my drag. It was an adrenaline rush to catch a fish of this size out of these small ponds. I've only caught dinks out of these ponds in previous trips, but I knew their had to be some lunkers in there as well. Well, my persistance paid off.

After such good luck from the get go, I thought it was going to be a very productive day. I was wrong. I switched between the three ponds that I fished on 4-30 all day, throwing jigs, grubs, spinner baits, crank baits, to no avail. I had one other hit, which I missed. Shortly after I had been there, the nasty Ellensburg wind came up (gusting over thirty miles an hour), which made casting and fishing quite difficult. This probably had something to do with the change of luck, or I just got lucky off the bat. Either way, I'm pleased with the one I caught today.
