We got taken to school at Clear Lake on Sunday. We arrived right at dawn to enjoy a crisp, early autumn morning. The sun was just cracking the horizon as we slipped the shark-mouth leviathan into the mirror-surfaced water of Clear Lake. Except for the bumper crop of weeds at the boat launch, everything set the stage for a great fishing day (remember, the best day at work isn't even close to a lousy fishing day!) My neighbor, Randy, and I were determined to make a lot of fish eager to set upon our fishing lures. We had Rapalas (!), we had Rooster Tails (!!), we had other "secrets" that were proven winners at other lakes---but Clear Lake proved to be fussy. After being taken to task by the stubborn antics of the piscatorial population, we clipped the old tried-and-true wedding ring lures onto our fishing lines and PRESTO!! Fish DO reside in Clear Lake---except the few that volunteered for our frying pan... A great day; a few fishermen took the Clear Lake Challenge as well...I hope they met success...
