Launched the dinghy around 4:00 and fished until 8:30. The trout were biting, but there are considerably less of them than there were last week. I caught at least a half-dozen dink trout using a homemade wedding ring. Nothing too fancy, but the combination of bright colors + reflective tape on the spinner blade (see pic) was much more effective than a plain nickel blade. I also tried a peach-colored spinner blade and didn't get any bites in 30 minutes. Oh well, live and learn. Who knows? Peach may work better under different conditions...
The wedding ring worked great while the sun was out, but when it set (7:30-ish), the orange/white dick nite was the ticket. (Caught another half-dozen.) Even though I remembered to bring a cooler this time, all of the fish were small so I used the zak hook remover to give them a "touch-free" release.

Speaking of C&R, there were a bunch of retarded teenagers at the launch. They were fishing with worms. Their version of "catch and release" goes something like this:
1) Ignore pole until a fish begins to drag it toward the water.
2) Cuss at the fish for trying to steal your pole, then fake a dramatic fight scene.
3) Drag the fish onto dry land and let it flop around in the rocks for at least 15 seconds.
4) Tell the fish that it didn't fight hard enough and cast it back into the water.
5) Repeat steps 2-4 a couple more times.
6) Cuss at the fish for swallowing the hook.
7) Pull the hook out (complete with entrails).
8) Tell your buddies that you don't like to eat fish.
9) "Release" the mortally wounded fish.

With morons like this out there, it's no wonder there aren't many fish left! I was tempted say something but was outnumbered -- and they were getting drunk. The situation could have gotten ugly and it wasn't worth the risk...

Personally I don't find the antics of the drunks very funny. Maybe I missed something in the report.
Glad to hear your new concoction worked well.
