Worked the very low waters of Rattlesnake. A few boats on the water as launching was a bit of a problem, but if your trailered boat isn't too heavy you can get it over the rocks. Water was 53 degrees, calm most of the time , wind kicked up a few times. Trolled and casted green buggers with a sink tip. Finding the water column where the fish are was kind of hit and miss. but overall a good day. had at least 18 fish on, landed maybe 13 RB's all C&R. Green bugger, plain, was the ticket. Most fish are 11-13. some smaller some bigger. my fishing partner caught 2 15" RB, those also C&R. nice day... just what you like at this fun little lake...

Sounds like a good time. Were you in a float tube?

I think you were the guy that gave me some Olive Buggers when I was up there last week.... If that was you, thanks a lot. I went to Kaufman's today and grabbed a few more. They call them Allen's Olive Willy, Bead Heads.... I may be up there with a buddy later this week. It supposed to be like 80 degrees Thursday.

no, this was my first trip to RS. But, after reading some of the reports, I went with the solid green bugger and it worked. I had a couple of half hour spells with no bites. I'm sure many types of flies will work. i did keep two small trout for my neighbor who immediately cooked them up, he enjoyed them. these trout have to be hungry, found lots of odd items in their stomachs. chunks of wood, rock, and other debris.

I haven't kept one out of there this season. I seem to hook all my larger fish in the late evenings on small emerger patterns and parachute hares ears & lightening bugs sizes 18-22. Real small. They are hungry, but the smaller the fly, seems to catch the larger fish. Just my experience. They are tasty if kept that's for sure! The buggers/streamers, etc. seem to catch more fish, just smaller fish. Gotta love this lake...just wonder when the water level is going to come up...
