Went to Sammamish Friday night trying to get some crappie. We got out on the water about 5pm and fished till 8. It really sucks the launch closes at dusk..
Started off cruising the near shore in about 20ft of water on the southwest side of the lake looking for any mounds or trees on the fish finder. Found a few with tons of fish near, but none were biting, probably baitfish.
Eventually went to to the pads in the area and my dad caught one perch on a red/white crappie tube. It was really long, but it looked like it was starving, we put it back. After that, no more fish.
When we were heading back to the launch, there were so many people trying to leave, we decided to fish a little more. We found a spot near the ramp with a lot of little silver baitfish jumping everywhere (anyone know what they are), and casted our bobbers out thinking maybe some big fish were underneath them. Still no fish.
Also seen a huge carp swimming with its nose out of the water. The thing was huuuuge.
Funny moment was when we were by the creek, my dad drives the boat onto the sandbar and we had to use the trolling motor to get off. First time on the lake with a boat though, so he didn't know.

Those bait fish are actually salmon smolt. I pulled in a couple on a tiny dick nite spoon as well as the squawfish that was chasing them. Damn squaws.

This means the cutthroat are out in full bore eating mode. Troll rapalas and you'll knock em dead...the salmon smolt have arrived! Oh yeah!
