Hit Lawrence Lake in Thurston County after going to offut lake( catching a few but LOTS of fishermen) in the morning. We got to the lake about 2pm and fished until 530pm. We fished off the bottom with float baits, sliding sinker and worms work best. There seems to be some boating activity on the water even during this time of year but MOST of them were courteous of us fishermen. We used ultra light gear and really did very well catching our limit and missing some other jumbos as they jumped ,surfaced ,took our drag and finally pulled the hook right off the line and the snell !!! I use Gamagatsu hooks and have for years . We were perplexed to see these were pulling out. The times were so fun. We were laughing so hard because of the excitement and catching these beautiful trout on extra light gear. Lawrence Lake has been a lake I fish over the last 15 years and with the WSDW planting fish in these Thurston county lakes one is bound to get a stringer full. HAPPY FISHING .

There is a spot from shore to the right side of the boat launch. I havent walked down the trail in years but its worth a try find a clearing without lilly pads and cast as far as you can . I have over the years caught trout from this side of the lake.

The one Im holding weighted 3.4 pounds 21inches and the other ( hanging down ) was 1.5 pounds and 18 inches . This lake has some big fish in it and has produced over the years . Its fishing..... keep trying and your bound to hit them . We had a great first day out of the trout season . Lawrence and clear lake in the bald hills usually produce as the season progresses . just get there early if possible because of the boaters.

Does anyone know about Kapowasin I havent fished there in years and am interested in going . I hear there is a WSDW boat launch now??? Where is it and hows the fishing???
