Decided to go to Fan today.
Loaded in around 7:15am. Overcast, calm and about 55°. The water temp was 61° at the surface and 55° at 12'.
Saw some indications of a chironomid hatch. Small pale green critters with white gills were surfacing along the "shelf" at the neck to the upper part of the lake.
I matched the hatch with a #14 pale green Ice Cream Cone on floating line with a 20' leader. I caught fish on my first 2 casts after changing to this fly. Both about 14". After a slow period of about 20 minutes I began to catch more fish. I caught and released 13 fish in all by the time I left at 10:30am. The largest was 21" and smallest was 9" with the average being about 14". All were Rainbows.
Tight Lines!
