None of my usual fishing partners could make it today (grounded), so I went out solo. The weather was overcast and cooler. Water temp was in the upper 50's to low 60's in some areas. I caught plenty if smallies and a couple of crazy rock bass. The biggest rock bass was just over 8". The biggest smallie was just over 17" and weighed 2lbs 8.5oz. The fish were all caught in 6' of water or less using football jigs or senkos. My battery died prematurely, may be time for a replacement (this one is going on 6 years old). On my way back to the car I saw Bumper just starting out. Thanks for offering me a spot in your boat when I told you about my bum battery! I wish I didn't have to hurry home, but I didn't want to be the one that was grounded next weekend.

I'll repeat what the others said "Nice smallie" I hope to find some of those in the next few weeks. Sorry you had battery trouble but sounds like you got alot of use out of that one.

Not a bad run really for a 30-month battery. I popped the top on that battery when I got home and two cells had dry tops. Oops... I filled it up with distilled water and it's on the charger. I'm going to give it one more try before I replace it. If it 's still a no-go I'm getting the biggest Kirkland Signature deep cycle that Costco sells (probably costs less than a tank of gas!).
