Took the afternoon off and took my dad out fishing. Started about 2:30 and trolled up the lake with a silver and blue rapala run pretty deep. Hooked a nice 12" at the far end of the lake. Dad put on an orange flatfish and he had the rest of the luck for the day. He pulled in two other stockers and the last fish was a nice 15+". I proceeded to trade out gear and depths. Had some hits on various flatfish and plugs, but nothing sticking. The lake was serene from 3 to 5pm, so it was a nice time. Only one other boat on the lake the whole time (BB69?)
Normally these fish would be C&R, but we went specifically to catch dinner. Lucky the big guy came up because it rounded out the meal.
Had a resident up the north end of the lake yell at us from his dock to stun any small fish we caught and throw them out for the eagles.....????? Ooookay, that was a first.
Noticed the trip. or holdover (?) had what looked like clipped gill plates (somewhat visible in picture) on both sides. Is this a marking for the trips? Is there any way to tell?
BB69, was that you out there? Whoever it was, sorry if I cut you off on that one pass by the fishing dock, I was paying attention to my daughter and not watching what was ahead of me.

You said you had a Smokercraft, so figured it might be you. Decided against yelling out across the lake to you, didn't want to cramp FM's style. My boat was loaded to the gills with three adults, one child, fishing gear, and the trolling motor. Must have looked like a clown car out there, especially with my daughter bouncing from the front to the back and then to the front again. She's a handful, but she sure likes to look at the fish. Start'em young!

How'd you do by the way?

I did alright that day. Nothing big though. Just your average 10-12" planters. They do seem to be getting fat though !
