Went looking for Tigers again as they are spawning along the shores that have soft sand. Tried the north west portion of the lake around turtle rock and caught some smallmouth using a fire tiger hula popper. Largest one was 2 lbs and was released.
A few minutes later I was dragging the popper back to the boat when I saw about a 4 foot tiger right next to me! He never bit the popper but he did get close enough to take a good look at. Later that night I saw some large fish splashing around in the sand by the shore and assumed that I had found a good spot.
Tried working the docks back on the east shore of the peninsula and hit a tiger in about 4 feet of water with sandy beach. This one was almost three feet and he pulled my little 12 foot boat all over the place before we had to use someones beach to land him. He had a rusty hook already stuck in his face from being caught before and was really tired when we put him back in the water. Eventually he swam back under a dock to be caught again!
Had similar tiger experiences last year in the same spots so hopefully it will continue!
