Went out about 5:30. Water was 60 on the surface and trout weren't biting much. Passed a few other people in boats that weren't getting anything either so I decided to go over to the shallows to see if the bass were biting. I get in about 10 ft of water and my fishfinder starts going crazy so I hook a spinner and start tossing it in all directions, nothing. I look down and notice the plants are sort of curled like injured fish, I'm wondering if my finder is confused. But just to be sure I hook a nightcrawler and start working through the salad, I'm bottom bouncing when I see movement. Then I see another, and another, and they're all swimming right under my boat in 8ft of water. I set the hook and pull up my first perch. Small guy about 8". The wind wasn't blowing so I sat in that spot just dropping nightcrawlers over the side and watching those fish fight over it. Ended up hooking about 10 before heading back out to troll for trout again. All C&R. If I ever want a pan fry, I know where they live now. I had 2 trout hook up but shook my rapalas off. Left at 10 pm right as the city worker was about to lock the gates.

Trout used 4lb mainline with 4lb leader, ford fender pop gear with jointed rapala trout colored, trolled as slow as possible.
Perch used full night crawler, carolina rig with 1/4 ounce weight. Could have used halves.

No wind, clear skies, 3 boats and about 10 people on the dock.
