Got the day off on Monday. I headed to Offut for the early morning bite. I fished all of my usual spots with no success. I was throwing Senkos, a Shad Rap, and a Zara Spook. After about three hours of fishing, I finally got some action. I changed my Senko to wacky rig and tossed it by the lily pads. My line started to swim off and I set the hook hard. I have never caught a Bass under 5 lbs. that fought so damn good. Every time I started to get him closer, he would strip drag. It seemed as though it took three minutes to land him. I believe it was a Male Bass. His belly did not look to be full of eggs and his tail was not rubbed raw at the bottom. He tipped the old digital scale at 4 lbs. 9 oz. I gave the Bass a kiss, thanked him for the awesome fight and let him go. I stayed in the same area. About 20 minutes later, I go to move my Senko and feel some weight. I set the hook, Fish On! This time he is by a log and I see him. He runs under the log. I was able to horse him out and then he comes in fairly quick. I weigh him and he weighs 4 lbs. 9 oz. He also has the same little raw spot on his mouth. It was the same friggin Bass! Only this time he was obviously tired. After weighing him, I got him back in the water as quick as I could. This time I gave him a kiss, told him he was stupid, and told him to lay off the Senkos for awhile. I fished for a few more hours. I caught three Trout, but could not get any more Bass to bite. When I got home, my wife asked if I caught any Bass. I said that I caught two. Then I said, I guess I only caught one, twice. Even though I would rather catch one big one, versus a bunch of little ones. I gave the day only three stars because I thought the Bass action would be a little better. I usually do really well here in the early morning.

Nice job!! I will be fishing Offut almost daily for about a month! I think I saw that fish was the spot in themouth really raw looking?

i think he really liked your worm! hah! at least you did catch fish. we went to kapowson and the wind on sun got my boat took me into a stump ............broke my shaft....................no matter what i went fishing.now i have a reason for a new one.............fish on......................

Thanks Man. The sore on his mouth was about the size of a dime. It looked more like a raw spot than a sore. Almost like he was eating crawdads on the lake bottom or something. Bigbasstaz, I have been fishing Offut for at least 15 yrs. I know of that mean ol lady with the dog. I always call her Maam and try to respect her property. She has thrown stuff at me and my friend, she has taken my boat reg. #, and said she was going to call the State Patrol on me. LOL Even though, between those two points is awesome fishing, I just stay away now.
