Launched at DNR ramp and fished up/down lake about a mile each way. Had a really great afternoon with my son and his best friend. We caught about 11 bass and 7 perch using crappie jigs and Texas-rigged worm. Caught a 3-lb and 2-lb smallmouth and a 3.5-lb largemouth. The rest were around the 10-12 inch range. Couple of good 11-inch perch. My son lost one largemouth at the boat that would have went at least 4 or 5-lb. Most fish came from about 10 ft of water and the water temp was about 62. Only one smallie with a crankbait and the rest were on the bottom. Fished until 8pm and wicked winds came up with whitecaps and all.

is this the 9 mile launch? Also when you said up and down about a mile how far off shore were you fishing? Right up at the bank or farther out? Any tips on fishing Long this Sat will be my first attempt.

Eric...No this is not the Nine Mile. I launched from near the dam at the DNR launch which is west of Tum Tum. Most of the fish came in 10-12 feet of water anywhere from 5 to 15 yards off shore. The south side of the lake has a steeper drop and rocky; we caught all our fish from that side. But...we only fished about 20 minutes on the north side. Found a lot of grass/pads on north side and did get a lot of nibbles (from perch I'm assuming) but no takers. This was also my first time. I'm actually going back today and plan to let the kids continue with crappie jigs and I'm going to try dropshotting a worm and a grub. Best of luck this weekend. I'll look for your report.
