Was at my friends house in Newport Shores when his dad suggested around 5:30 that we take the paddleboat out. Fitting three people in that little vessel had me thinking that we might sink, so I only brought along a two-inch brown grub and a 1/16 oz jighead. OF course my friends decided to be jerks and would not stop the boat, so I ended up trolling that lure through half the canals in Newport Shores. Some guy in a boat tells us that we're going too fast to catch any fish, and right then I pull in a 9 inch pikeminnow. In your face! After about a half hour we bring the boat back and my pole really takes a dip. After a nice fight and a jump i get the smallie up to the boat. My friends refused to touch it, so i fought it over to my end and lipped it myself. It went a decent 15.5 inches. Good day.
