Got up early and hit Long Lake in my Tracker before the skiers could churn up the water. Tried jigs, worms, spooks, poppers, and buzzbaits all up and down the southwest shoreline and weed edges with no luck. Worked the pads on the south end once the powerboats started up around 8:30. Still no luck. Drove up to the northwestern shore around 10 and worked a bluegill colored Rapala DT-4 along weed edges in about 8 feet of water and finally got a bite. Stuck him and got him up to where I could see it was about a 2 pounder before he got off. That was my only bite that I know of. The lake is pretty much choked with weeds now and there is very little clear water to fish. Actually, I don't mind fishing the weeds as much, but my trolling motor can't chew its way through without me raising it up and cleaning it every few yards. I'll probably be fishing somewhere else for the rest of the summer. They could really use some grass carp or something in there to control the vegetation.
