Visited Roses Lake for the first time after trying Wapato earlier in the morning with no success. I had brought my dinghy over to the Lake in case shore fishing was limited. I was all ready to launch when I noticed a small area along the shore (near the boat launch) where the shoreline immediately goes deep. So I thought...what the heck, give it a try. There was someone already sitting in the spot and I asked if it was OK to cast next to him. I cast with my trusty slip bobber with white jig tipped with maggot...and on the 3rd cast...wham! I was caught in a battle with a catfish that was at least in the 5-6 pound range. The guy next to me jumped up and tried to retrieve the sucker with his net, but with only 6-lb test and 4-lb leader (my Crappie rig), the battle was over after about ten minutes, and he won! Damn...
Anyways I fished a total of 6 hours over two days, managed to snatch 6-7 nice Crappies, a ton of Bluegills, and a couple of largemouth bass. You will probably need a boat since shoreline fishing is limited and I was lucky to find a spot on shore. Still a great little Lake...I'll be back for sure!
