Tough day for me! Had my first one in the boat at 5:45am 3.8lbs, and I was thinking here we go..... But there it stopped!! I caught one more for the day @ 2.1lbs. I was fishing deep 10-25ft on weed edges, and buoy marking clumps on the bottom. Both of my fish came on 10.5" Zoom "Ol' Monsters".

However I also tried:
5-7" Berkley Power Worms in black, green, and pumpkinseed. Texas rigged, Carolina-rigged, and split shot.
1/4oz and 3/8oz spinnerbaits in gold shiner, chartreuse/white, and salt and pepper colored.
Deep diving suspending jerk baits blue & chrome, black & chrome.
6-10' diving crankbaits in minnow patterns.
A Yum "Humpin' Toad" I call it the "kickin frog" he was dark green!
Shaky head worms in watermelon red flake & green pumpkin.
Split shot and finesse worms.
The kitchen sink.
and my left shoe!!
Nada

I fished from 3' deep buried in lily pads, to open water 25' near wood structure. Deep water is where it worked for me, but I did see a couple guys in a Skeeter bass boat holding up a couple bass and they were pounding pads!

Definitely having to work for them this time of year, especially with this goofy weather, I almost put my gloves on this morning as my hands were cold and turning white by 8am!! C'mon Al Gore, let's heat things up a bit!! The water temp was a blistering 68.5 degrees...don't ever wanna fall into water that hot, you'll come out bones!! (lol)........it is August right?? Just checking.

Told a couple guys at the launch about the web site while leaving, we had a good chat, and they headed out to try their luck. I headed to Cavanaugh to try mine.
