Whoooohoo! I caught my personal best bass; 22" long x ~14" girth SMB! My crappy scale put him at ~6.5# This big boy nearly broke my medium Ugly Stick- at times during the epic battle the tip smacked my knuckles on my reeling hand. I had to keep tightening my drag on my reel to keep him from stripping too much line off (I later checked and realized I only had a single click left for max drag.) Weightless T-rigged plastics baby, weightless t-rigged plastics. I had a hard time getting a decent photo of the beast from my cameraphone, but once I get the pictures off I'll post them in the bass forum. The homeowners near where I was fishing from got quite a show as my kayak was getting towed and my rod was bending far past what I would have expected it to endure... Against my better judgement I released this beast to the depths to breed again.
Pine lake was like a ghost town- only two other boats and no more than 8 on the dock. The weather was for the most part cloudy all afternoon with some clearing in the evening. I had a lot of good strikes but very few made it in the boat. I changed my hooks out and my luck improved. The water was surprisingly clear in some parts of the lake, in some areas you could clearly see 10'. Water temp was fairly mild (since my transducer is mounted in the hull I can't give an accurate claim), warm enough to swim in comfortably.
Will I be back... you bet! The 5 rating was definitely for quality, not quantity.
