Fished for an hour before dark with wife, wife's folks, and 3 year old daughter. Nobody caught anything. When we were organizing the boat getting ready to head for the launch my daughter said Dad, somethings wrong with this pole. I looked over and said, that's cause you got a fish on it honey, keep reeling! This was the first fish she caught a fish completely by herself with no help. She tucks the rod butt under her armpit and reels away. She caught a little 10 inch smallie and was ecstatic. She caught it on a little two inch cultiva rippin minnow. Everyone was so proud of her. Watch out Kevin Van Dam! She even told the neighbor all about it. Now she keeps asking to go catch some more baby bass. Seems like this lake is real hot for the smallies from post spawn to late July, and then it really slows down. Any suggestions for now and fall time would be much appreciated. Haven's tried much with soft plastics or deeper water. Fish On!
