I finally decided to try and night fish on fresh water. I made all the preparations to get my car locked in and get home on foot. I arrived at Pine at 8:30 and by 9:30 it was pitch black with the whole lake to myself. Water was a hot 72 and I focused on the deepest part of the lake with small blade pop gear and a black/ gold jointed rapala. After an hour with no hits I switched to a chartreuse wedding ring with same pop gear. Nothing. I only saw 2 fish surface the whole time I was on the lake. Tried a silver/ black wedding ring and added nymph scent but didn't get anything. The only thing I caught was mosquito bites. I did notice that pine after dark is quite the hang out for teenagers and I noticed them coming and going in groups. I left about 11:30 without a single bite. Only the second time I had ever been skunked.

How do you access the lake, at dark after the park closes?

I got to the lake before it closed. And when I was finished I just put my inflatable raft in the trunk, grabbed my gear, and walked home. I went back the next morning and picked up the car. I only live 1/4 mile away from the lake. The people that were coming in after close were also on foot. I imagine they park nearby and walk over as well. I could hear them swimming in the lake. The water was like bathwater, but the wind chill once you got out.... forget it.

You know it! That reminds me, I need to ask you a few questions about scenting.
