After having a great day on Saturday, decided to hit the lake and try my luck...and didn't have much.

Admittedly, i got to the lake late - about 9:00 am, and the wind was kicking!

Caught 3 perch, 1 crappie about 10"

1/16 oz white hair jigs, 1/8 white/back red hair jigs, black and silver 2" power minnows.... spinnerbait, and more..

Just couldn't get them to bite.

Normally, by this time of year, I use to take a float tube out and fin around the shade side of the vertical weed columns. Drop a bit of unweighted night crawler on a hook and let it settle to the bottom on the shade side. POW

But, normally, things are not two weeks behind like everything seems to be this year. Good luck, hope your next trip is wind free and fish full.

A cold front moved over sat night. It was windy the whole time we were out sat evening too. Passing cold fronts always seem to slow the bite down for a day or two. I have no idea why. Low light conditions always get us the best results for crappie. 90% of what we catch is in the last hour before dusk. We fish in pockets of open water among the big tall weeds. We use 1/16th and 1/32 oz jigs with plasctic skirts and worms about 4-5' under a pencil bobber. Fishing the shady side of big weed clumps during the days is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that.
