Hit the lake for the Salmon opener, we were the second boat with lines in the water at about 5:34am. Tried the standard rig (bare Hooks) with no luck. Moved on to Apex and Coyote spoons as well as plugs and hoochies all with no luck. Did not see any large fish rolling and did not mark that many fish either. Fished the mouth of the creek early and moved out along the east shore and center of the lake to try and locate a school. Did not see a fish caught, heard of one person landing one early in the morning and that was all, we were off the water by 10:00am. The fish don't seem to be there in sufficient numbers yet. Note: The moon was full, not a cloud in the sky and it was dead calm, all of which may have contributed to the poor showing.

PS: the gate for the launch opens at 5:30am, not earlier, not later!

Thanks fr the report. I will still plan on hitting it Tuesday just to get my gear organized and into the "mindset" of salmon fishing. A few hours of trolling around will do me good!

how and where do you fish for the salmon on Sammamish?? Would you fish it like in the salt?? From the report thats what it sounds like to me.

bigbowkes,

Check out the thread that Mike started on fishing Lake Sammamish for salmon.
http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/yaf_postst4753_Lake-Sammamish-Salmon--are-you-fishing-it-yet.aspx
I described methods that were successful for me in the past. Perhaps others can add what else works to that thread and we'll have a little cheat sheet for harvesting these fish!
