The weather was a little rainy and cloudy so I decided to go to Lake Stevens figured no boaters and I was right. Fished along the east side shore under docks and submerged logs. Caught a couple 1lbs but the big fish of the day was this perch. Great fighter and was delicious. Was fishing crankbaits as the water was windy and I could get right up on the bass. Got all the bass and the perch on a shad colored Rapala DT-10. Great lake still trying to figure out bass fishing. Have yet to get plastics. Maybe it is my patience. Weightless senko or brush hogs I hear catch fish but I just cant seem to do it right. ANY HELP? I have many worms in watermelon, green pumpkin, motor oil, tequilla sunrise. I fish them texas and carolina rigged and get little bites but maybe well probably fishing them wrong. I have lizards, brush hogs. craws. What is best jig and pig colors for clear water? Anyway Lake Stevens is always fun and have never got skunked. Again what a great perch for me.

Nice looking perch.........2 years ago on the south side off the lake, I was doing my best to stay away from the jetskiers and obvious I wasn't paying enough attention to them cause they kept getting closer to me and my boat was rocking pretty good and then all of a sudden my rod bowed over and I was thinking snagged in the weeds. Turned out a 14 3/4 perch and later caught 2 more over 12in. Great eating fish.......you should be proud!!

If it is windy, or you cant seem to put a senko where you want it, put a slip sinker on before the hook. This helps take it down to the bottom, which is especially helpful for those bass under the docks. Weightless is nice, but sometimes difficult, depending on the circumstances. PM me if you have any specific questions on this.

Stevens is loaded with fish -- smallmouth, largemouth, triploids, kokanee, and a crap-load of perch. But for some reason, it doesn't get much attention from fishermen. Hmm... might be because there are always a grillion ski boats & jet skis zooming around during summer months. That and the fact that the boat launches are always VERY busy on weekends...
