Kind of a late report, but it's been a busy week. Went camping last weekend (22-26 Aug) with the family out at Banks Lake. Stayed at Sunbanks Resort in one of the waterfront cabins so I could pull my boat right up in front and tie up to a tree. Since I was there with the whole clan, my fishing time was very limited, but I managed to get out a couple evenings, one morning and one afternoon. Had the best luck running yellow crawdad Rapala and Strike King crankbaits down the rocks around Steambaot Rock. Probably caught 3 dozen or so smallies, though they were mostly about 8-10" or smaller. I did get a couple of larger ones around a pound and a half (like the one in my left hand) that put up a good fight. I only caught one largemouth the entire trip when I was out the first night. He came on a buzzfrog over the matted reeds in Jones Bay. A nice 3.5 pounder. All were released to fight again. All in all, a great trip, though I wish I'd had more time to explore different areas of the lake and spend some more time fishing. I'll definitely try to go back next year.
