I fished Clear Lake for the first time in 30 years. Last time I fished this lake I was a kid and recall my dad and I couldn't keep the perch off. So, knowing that trout fishing would be slow, I decided to take some worms and give this lake a try. I didn't read and reports before taking this trip. I later read the reports and learned that the lake has been slow for spiny ray species. Go figure. Anyway, it was a very nice day on the water and I managed 2 small perch on a Rapala, nothing else. I threw Rapala lures and Roostertail spinners with no luck. I worked the lilly pad and old dock posts near the launch and nothing but the two small perch. I also fished deeper water for trout suspending worms just off of the bottom but not a bite. Water was 68 degrees and no algae issues I could see. Nice trip, poor fishing.
