Another nearly bassless day on Lk Wa... I've been there every Saturday for the past month with only a boatload of perch to show for it. I did discover that perch love those Yamamoto glow-in-the-dark grubs though last weekend while fishing well into the night.
As I am sure all of you Westsiders noticed the weather was pretty droll and quite wet. The water on the lake was pleasantly calm and nearly devoid of boaters (with the exception of two clowns going full throttle under I-90 and a seaplane landing near me.) The water was much warmer than the ambient air, I'm guessing it is probably still hovering in the upper-mid 60's.
I should have given up on the plastics and went back to hard baits, but the perch were frequent enough that it still made it mildly enjoyable. Next weekend I'll have to stick to my guns and keep with the hard baits and swimmers. I concentrated on depths from 10' to 20' on the ends of some of the deeper docks before resigning to perch fishing in the shallower regions in between them.
Oh well... better luck next weekend.

Sorry you had no luck with the bass on LW. Keep on trying and it will come.

Keep on trying man, Perch are everywhere in the lake, I've noticed if the perch are there, the bass are near by.

I was out last Saturday and some jackass water skier had to ski 50 feet from me, the entire lake they had to be skiing where we were fishing.

are you consistently catching perch of any size? I assume that if the seaplane landed near you, you were on the north end of the lake?

South end actually... just south of the stretch of I-90 between Mercer Island and Bellevue. In all fairness I wasn't in danger, but close enough to piss me off (I am fishing from a kayak)

The perch I've been catching have been in the 10-15" inch range.

Stay out of the way of those pesky seaplanes. HaHa Nice to see a report from you, sorry you're not finding the bass like you want.

Yes ESR,..I find my hardbaits work alot better than plastics right now,..might change as we settle into Fall/Winter but I'm not 2 much the plastics guy,..all my Bigger Smallies have came on the Cranks,..but when I do throw them I still catch some Perch now and then,..that's ok though cause the Bronzies are usually close by! We launch at Rainier Beach or the Pits,..hitting the lake again Friday and Monday,..maybe we'll see you out there!
