10/7/2008 3:44:00 PMRonald Bog is a part of the Thornton Creek Watershed, which runs through Shoreline and Seattle into Lake Washington at Matthews Beach. I don't think the levels of poison (pollution) in there is all that much higher than that of Ballinger or Echo. I've seen many different species of fish, turtles, beaver, ducks, geese, & frogs in there and they seems to be pretty happy. Because the bottom is so dark, it makes the water seem black, which makes it kinda creepy. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't swim in it, drink the water (though my dogs have and lived to bark about it), or eat anything caught out of it, but I don't think fishing it will kill you any faster than any other city lake.

10/7/2008 8:02:00 PMGlad to see you still going out. I hopefully will have a chance to get out in the next couple weeks, weather permitting. Kind of forgot about that place. Will have to remember when I get a chance. Still trying to catch whatever with a worm and a bobber. There's always Echo for me though, until then good luck.

10/7/2008 9:06:00 PMFishingboy,, When I said that it is creepy, I wasn't refering to any big concern about pollution. There is no reason to believe it is any more dirty than any other urban lake. There is an algey bloom ocurring at this time. By creepy, I just meant that I hate nutria or any rat type looking creature, and there are a few. Also it is very secluded from public eye.

10/9/2008 12:22:00 PMRonald Bog is named after a local land owner, and former Seattle Mayor, Ronald Judge. In the 1950's this bog was mined for its valuable peat, creating the sharp corners, little or no wading area and open water. The water is a dark color characteristic of peat water.

10/17/2008 1:54:00 PMif you really want to see what the bog looked before time if you go to the Shoreline Museum thats located right in the parking lot of Shorewood High School it has all the history of the bog. Also i dont think the waters that bad because in high school as a science project they let the class walk down and take water samples and such so i dont think that the school would have us putting our hands in the water if it was going to kill us. I dont recommend drinking it though. Nice to know that there is fish in there i live a few blocks away maybe i will take my son there and fish for a bit and let him feed the ducks and rats,
