Well, since I didn't have much time or gas money, I headed to Newman as it is only about 15 minutes from my house to the launch. The wind made boat control a little dicey but when I finally found a semi-sheltered spot and was able to feel the bites I had a good day. I ended up with 10 crappies in the livewell all over 9" with the biggest over 11". All were caught in 10-12 feet of water although some hit on the drop so they must have been suspending too. In the end I had stayed too long and wasn't going to have time left to fillet at home so the keepers got a reprieve and were released back to the lake. All in all and excellent fall day of fishing for 3 hours of effort. I also had the lake to myself as a bonus! Next time I hope I remember the camera so that I can have some proof! The moral of this story.....don't put away the boats yet, it is a great time to fish!
