Finally braved the roads and took the trip north to Kress Lake. I was hoping to nail at least one of the steelies that were planted there in recent weeks. Found the lake to be free of ice but still very weedy. Worked the shoreline casting a plug but only saw one fish, about a 6 or 7 pounder with a white nose. Ugh! The water temperature is just above freezing, I'm guessing that the fish are just lethargic as a result. I talked to a couple of other fisherman, one guy had a fish that he caught much earlier in the day. It was in "deep freeze", covered in ice! So I couldn't really tell what condition it was in. If you are coming a long ways I really don't recommend you waste your time, the fishing is poor at best. Maybe when things stay warm for a few days...
