Well headed out to the infamous rufus woods alllllllllll the way from renton WA.. Showed up to the lake around 10ish, nice clear day and a little chilly, just what i was looking for. Started with a chartruese rooster tail from the shore right below the boat launch where the fire pits are and not even a minute into it caught a 3# . Threw out a couple more times and wham another one, this happened for the next couple of hours. Decided to go to the bottom with some float bait cause my fishing partner was cold, ( boo hoo ) sat there for about 10 minutes or so when i got a little tug on the pole set the hook and WHAMMMM !!!! The line started ripping out for a solid 30 seconds or so took my time fighting the fish back towards the shore about a 7 to 9 minute fight and i couldn't believe my eyes, the biggest trout I've ever seen in my life. The fish weighed in at 11.5 pounds, well worth the trip.
Thanks for all the lake reports, it helps us out of towners explore what this beautiful state has to offer us..
ill be heading up there this Thursday with dad and cousin if i don't go to Tahoe with some friends....they don't have any snow there..........
Love rufus woods
