We are finally home after our three day trip. A BIG Thanks to Blufin (Lewis) for helping fix my boat. That definitely save the trip in itself. I was able to but some faces to names, as mentioned Blufin and then met Robert and his daughter-which Blufin recognized.
17Jan09- The day started off in a bad shape. The steering broke on my boat so we decided to fish from the shore. It started off slow with John losing two fish that broke his leaders. After Robert and his daughter caught their limit. They offered their spot to us. We were just happy to get out of the wind. After chewing the fat with Robert for a while and finding out he too was a NAFC member, Adam was hooked up on a 1.5 lbs trout. I hooked and landed my two with in two minutes of each other and was done. No other fish came till sun down. Adam caught his second, 3.75lbs trip, then finally John got into the swing after losing 6-8 fish. He caught his limit, then Sam with one.
18Jan09-Went across from the spot from the day before due to others already being in that spot. it started off good. I hooked and lost a fish due to a broken leader. Then Sam hooked into a fish. Come to find out it was the one I had lost. Bait and hook was in its mouth to prove it. Adam was back at it. He landed a 1.75 lbs fish then followed up on the previous days fish. Hooking and landing a nice 5.5lbs trip. We fished till 11 at night, chew-en the fat and sitting by the fire. John and I were skunked.
An oh by the way: The Squid also works from the shore. I was using it before switching to bait and got a hit. I was such in aw that I didn't set the hook. I just kind of watch the trout come out of no where and hit the squid, then my brain finally woke up and said hey... Fish, hello...
Chartreuse nuggets with a pink glitter egg caught the lunkers. Pink eggs or bubble gum also caught fish. Try different colors and combos. Because this didn't work the next day.

Funny you mention losing a fish then Sam catching it. That is the third time I have heard that happening in that hole the other two where my nephew caught a fish I lost which was in spring of '08 and then a month or so ago my daughter lost a nice 4 pounder then finally caught another one then turned around and caught the first fish she lost. Same as you I knew it was my hooks and bait.

I guess it shows the fish don't want to leave when there is food around.

BTW do you ever beach fish for silvers? I used to a lot from Ft Flagler and Ft Worden state parks.

Actually I do fish a lot from shore when chasing silvers or pinks. It wasn't till I back up here with the bass boat that I started fishing for them out of the boat. There is a State Park that a friend took me to one time that is in between Bush point and the Outlet and we caught our limits in 10 minutes. I will send you the name after I look it up on Google Map.

I spose you are talking about South Whidby State Park...I have fished there and when the Silvers or Steelheads are running it is a good place. Not as many people as Bush Point. I wonder what has happened to the big Trips at RW. I don't even want to make the trip from the big city.

I beleive that is the place. I am not sure what it is called. It has been many years since I have been there.
