Headed out Sunday morning before the big game to see if I could hook up with some winter LMB. I originally planned on going to lake Terrell up in Whatcom county, The lake opens to fishing from a boat on Feb 1st so I thought I would have a decent shot at some fish. I got to the lake before light and couldn't believe my eyes...there was 3-4" of ice on most of the lake. I threw a good size rock on it and it just bounced off. Headed back South to Big lake and launched around 7:45 a/m. Marked a lot of fish between 3 and 6' but had no takers. Tried Rapalas, spinners and a few other baits in various colors. The water temp was 36-38 deg.
Oh well, it was still good to get out. I wanted to try my new Pflueger baitcasting reel and Fenwick rod anyway. I am new to baitcasting and the new setup actually felt pretty good. Only had a couple rats nests. I want to get better at flippin and pitchin around docks and cover to find Momma Pescie...
