Bottom Fishing From Boat
Rainbow Trout

Went out on the north end of Stevens today with the wife and a friend, to the "hole". Caught quite a few trout, with largest two around 15". Action died down as the day wore on, but it is always great to be out on the water, especially in the winter when you don't have to deal with all the waterskiers and jetskis! Fished the bottom using power eggs.

I just moved out to the area last week from California and fished as a child but haven't in years. It's embarassing to say as a man but I have no idea what I am doing! I have a spinner rod and some tackle but I was hoping you or someone could help me in having some success. I heard good things about lake stevens but dont know where to start. I see a lot of people top fish with worms but dont really know what the best set-up or time is to do that. Could anyone help......PLEASE!?!?!? Just use a worm and hook? How much line after the bobber? What time? I have a small blow-up boat, would that work? As you can gather I am helpless..........THANKS!

Fishing @ Stevens can be hit or miss. The fish move around a lot & finding them can be difficult. Once you find them, they may not bite on the same lure that they couldn't resist a few days ago.

My best advice would be to mix it up and let the fish tell you where they like to hang out and what they will hit.

On the plus side, there are lots of bigguns in Stevens -- both bass & trout. Don't give up!

I agree with Hillbilly, I have spent many days on Lake Stevens, using almost anything I can throw at them, not even getting a nibble, and other days, it seems you can't go wrong. I typically have the best luck using power bait on the North end, and spoons on the middle. There are big ones in this lake, seen em with my own eyes, makes the days of not catching anything completely worth it! Then again, just being out on the water, away from it all is good enough!

Sounds good. Thanks for the help and I guess I just need to try my luck!
