Got out on the lake at 7am, following my trailer jumping off the hitch and nearly penetrating my tail gate (knew I shouldn't have fabricated my own). I trolled awhile with a pink/silver dicknite to no prevail. I targeted many areas of the lake as my new Minn Kota 46 thrusted significantly faster than my previous 30. I really was astounded at the difference. I grew bored very fast at the bows ill-cooperation so I decided to work on some bass with a yamamoto 5" senko. Got snagged on about 100 debris, but definitely no fish in sight. Upon approaching the dock a Man by the name of John says "Nothing as usual"? His statement truly epitomizes this lakes poor stock. This lake is great following plants, but it is simply not cutting it lately. I attribute this scarcity to the millions of fishers that use the lake following plants. I speculate there are probably 3 fish remaining in this lake. Anyway, next time I am granted a day off from school I will surely either sleep in or locate a new lake.

If you have grown tired of Lake Ballinger, and maybe you live out that way,, then head up and try lake Serene. Look it up in the lake reports section. It is kind of near mulkilteo, but not quite that far. Great bass lake when it warms up, and i've seen trout there as well. (might have to check the regs. as far as if it is year round or not, but April is fast approaching regardless..
I grew up at/near ballinger and it has always been pretty slow and mostly a put and take lake.

just checked,, and Serene is last weekend in April/Oct. when the time comes go check it out. Also, if you live in the Shoreline/N. Seattle area, once it warms up a bit you have to hit Green lake. I didn't say you have to eat the fish, but it's a great fishery.

It's a little bit far away, but try Blakman's (city of Snohomish). There are not many fish left, but every time I go there I see at least 3 fish over all caught, and some are big (see my report on president's day). I was there again on the 21th and only caught 1 12 inches... but the 2 I got on the 16th were monsters. From the boat ramp go straight out and left... there's a huge area with no development. The whole are people catch fish trolling there, and yesterday there was a boat with fish finder marking many, though not biting. Some spots in the area are also good to stop and fish with power bait.

I haven't caught fish in Ballinger in 2 years - but I really haven't tried either. Last years plants were so small my bait seemed to intimidate them. Several years ago you couldn't keep the fish off the hooks but now nothing happens. Granted I never bring worms and that is a worm/maggot lake anyways.

I don't mind Lake Serene but the only public access area is the boat launch so it can be limited if your going to cast from shore and avoid the lilly pads as well.

Martha Lake at Alderwood is OK but also is a April/October lake. Public shore access fishing is limited to the two docks, and if the heron returns this year you might have to pay the bird fish to leave the dock.
