Another trip to Rufus Woods. Pulled into the launch area around 8:00 and no other rigs were there. Headed up to the lower pens, hit rough water in the area of the launch below the pens and it was white-caps the rest of the way. We spent a couple hours working the lower pens area, and only two fish caught. Both by Cindy. I didn't get a hit! Waves were rough enough the bowmount trolling motor was coming out of the water on some of them. Boat control was difficult. One other boat was tied up above the pens on the rope, they were using bait with no success.. We came back down lake to the Pump #1 area (smaller white-caps in this area), and fished awhile. We were able to pick up several, but the bite was extremely slow. I finally caught 5 tripps and Cindy ended up catching 10-12. We kept 3 and the others were released in good form
The three weighed in at 5#, 3.# 7oz,, & 3# The pic was taken behind a jetty in a wind break, thus the calm water. Marked fish deep (30-70 ft), and the ones we caught were in 8-20 feet. A super slow presentation was needed today. We threw spoons, jigs and flies, but the jigs were the producers. We did see one boat trolling and caught a trout in the area we were fishing.
All in all a rough day on the water, but enjoyable.
Stay safe out there

Sounds like you earned every fish today. Great job in tough conditions.

Hey blufin, Thanks for your report, photo & Trout pellet fly update email. I always enjoy your reports & photos. I'm eager to hear reports/updates from other folks that purchased the flies from me. Based on how I did last week and how you did last Friday and today I think I’ve got the tying part down. I really wanted to be on the water today but the wind tends to make my wife worry when I’m fishing alone. Being home today did give me a chance to get some of the honey-dos knocked off the list so I’ll be out there again soon.

hi ya Wolverine, It was one of the more trying days we have spent on RW. But as they say, A bad day fishing is better than any day at work. But even with the Cold wind and rough water, it was good to be out. We just put a new bow mount MK Power drive with wireless controls on the boat recently, and let me tell you It was nice to be able to operate the trolling motor from the back of the boat. Not sure could have done it from the bow chair and foot controls.

BigD, It's good to keep the honey-do list under control if at all possible. more time on water. listen to wife on windy days and fishing alone. There were sevral occasions where it was good to have the extra person in the boat. AND she caught most of the fish. LOL
