Heard a report on Boren so decided to take my 3 year old son out for a little evening jaunt up to this little lake in Newcastle. It started to rain "cats and dogs" just before we got there( i should've counted on rain), but, no turning back when you're that close right? I carried my son and all of our gear down to the dock and I set up our gear. I threw a rainbow Kastmaster on my line, no trebs, and chartreuse PB on my son's 1/2 of a fishing pole (he lost the other half while playing with it in the woods or something. Who knows where toddlers put things sometimes.) Anyhow, It's cold and even wetter to boot. My son is frozen after 10 minutes so I'm ready to bag this outing. I direct him to real in his line( yes I am the proud father of a natural) and he starts getting frustrated after a couple of turns of the reel. So, I reach down to get the pole from him and notice the line moving in the water. I immediately gave the pole back to him and hurried him to haul it in. He got the nice little 10" Bow within netting distance, dropped his pole and pointed and hollered "It's a fish, it's a fish!" I picked up the rod and pulled it in the rest of the way. Asking him if he wanted to keep it or put it back in the water, he decided on the latter. Needless to say it was a great 15 minutes of fishing, and the little guy held onto his fish the whole way home, talking to his new, soon to be pan fried friend. Tight lines y'all, it definitely don't matter how young the youngster is for this sport.
