Neighbor and fishing buddy Mike L. and I decided to spend this hot, sunny, April day on Trails End Lake. We both took our own boats -- Mike is a fly fisher and needs his space. I like bass fishing and also need my space on a small boat. Trails End Lake does not allow gas motors. I tried for bass with an assortment of lures but found no takers. Mike was catching a few trout on flies so I tied on a small yellow Rooster Tail Spinner and joined him. I ended up with a limit of planters. I gave the fish every chance to get off and did not net any of them. Both Mike and I both hooked one nice big trout -- Mike reminded me several times that he got his in the boat. Mine had a long line release after 3 beautiful jumps. Beautiful day on the water with calm winds and warm sunshine.

Its a tuff when a bass man starts trout fishing. I know that roster tail gave a twist to your tight lines.LOL At least you did catch some fish thats what its all about. Thanks for the report Bob I know not to go to trailsend any time soon.

Thanks Trent, yeah it's sad to see a bass angler actually get so desperate for a jerk on the end of his line he lowers himself to fishing for trout. Trails End Lake has never been good to me for early bass but has been good a little later. Check out my old report of July 4, 2003. Those ol' latheric lunkers should be prowling the lily pads very soon. Oh yes, the spinners do twist line but it doesn't seem to bother much on braided Power Pro. Tight lines, Bob
