I had heard about this lake via the article on various bass lakes by Bob Johanson (sp?) sorry.
I got on the water about 1:00 I had a hard time finding this place due to Hwy 169 being closed at the Green river bridge, detours etc. After asking for directions I found it.
This looks like what would be a great bass fishery maybe on another outing. There was only one other Jon boat out for about 1.5 hours. I did not see them land anything, but didn't watch that carefully either. I skirted the entire lake in my float tube. I tried to fish slowly using senkos on the drop shot, jigs,.... went to some crappie jigs also. Trailed a worm under a bobber (that is my... "I can't take it anymore, I just wanna catch something" setup.LOL That yielded no bites either. Also slowly trolling a 2" watermelon colored grub is good for me... but not today.
I did not see a single rise on the water. The water was clear as glass most of the time. At the launch there was a ton of what I call "Waterdogs" or very large tadpoles. Acorn size heads with 3-4" bodies. They should make some bass very happy I"m sure. Some buddy can correct me on the waterdogs if you like.. I know that in places around Eastern WA. Water dogs can be bought, I think on one of the reservations... And I think what is truely a waterdog is like a 7"tadpole.
FYI if you come down here, don't be confused by the detour on Hwy 169. The lake is located right at the road closure on the South end of the closure.

Don't give up on Bass Lake Quadfather, the water is probably a little cold yet. Try spinnerbaits and on calm, windless days floating Rapalas work well. On the lake index of Bass Lake there is a photo of a nice 21 inch largemouth that I caught on March 14th several years ago. That fish hit a black spinnerbait. As for the waterdogs you mentioned -- I don't think bass eat them. I think they have a bad smell. I see them on many bass lakes and I think the bass would easily wipe them out if they were tasty. They have no natural camouflage and they move slowly so bass could easily find and catch them. Good luck! BJ

Great job on getting out there! Still sounds like a great time on the water and I am sure this will be a lake to hit as it continues to warm up.

I think this lake is mostly hit or miss. And last weekend really seemed odd for fishing for some reason. I had zero luck on Lake Twelve, which is just down the road, and had just been stocked.
