Fished Padden on the opener. I took my wife, daughter and buddy out. My wife caught her first trout but wasn't able to boat it. I caught one on a black and yellow dot dressed Panther Martin that I ended up losing after retying (never had a palomar fail that way, must have been the flourocarbon). I then switched chrome Kastmaster on a flouro leader with a standard bb swivel. I pretty much slaughtered them then. (12+) I saw a boat trolling by our canoe, catching one every 3-5 mins. I saw they were using something chrome (couldn't tell if it was a spoon or spinner). My wife was using a pink and copper Panther martin. My buddy was being lazy, using power bait. i told him to try a Dick Nite with split shot. He caught a few until he broke off trying to boat a feisty bow. We called it quits when my daughter got fussy( she's 22 months). Pretty hard to not catch fish on opening day. Fun day, if only every day one water could be 1/4 as good.
