Only had two hours to fish, so went to a typical prespawn area on Sammamish, and started throwing a lucky craft pointer in chartruese shad, which is my favorite color out here. I had several fish follow it and come up behind it but they wouldn't eat it. The sun was really bright, so I switched to a chrome and blue pointer and turned around and worked back the same stretch, and landed three fish in about 20 minutes. The biggest one (sorry cameraphone pic) was just under 17 inches, but didn't have my boga grip handy, and didn't want to stick him just to get a weight, so I'd have to guess the weight at about 2.5lbs maybe. The other two were about 14 inches. My last fish flashed on the bait but didn't commit, so I paused and let it sit suspended, and saw that fish come back and eat it while it was sitting dead still in the water..pretty cool. All these fish were dark and in about 10 feet of water, so they are definitely spending alot of time up shallow right now. Water temp was 60 degrees. These fish are going to be on beds shortly, please be careful handling them, and practice catch and release whenever possible. Hope to see you on the water. Tight lines! Dave
