My wife wanted to go up to the lake for Mother's Day, so packed up the kid and gear after breakfast and got up there about 11:30am. A couple of boats on the water, but not many. Water temp. was 57-59. Headed to the middle of the lake to dunk some worms. Had my wife troll my rapala on the way out and she had a couple of hits, but didn't catch anything. I then hooked my wife and kid up with worms and I used a grub on a jighead to bounce around the middle of the lake. My wife had a nice hit off the bottom but that was it and we got nothing for the next hour. The wind was intermittenly heavy from the south and would blow us up the lake and to the north shore. My child was getting bored and I wanted my wife to catch something, so decided to have her troll the rapala around some more. No sooner did we start that then she had a few hits at the north end of the lake. Hooked up a nice large stocker which I helped her unintentionally release unharmed. Right after that she hooked into another that turned out to be a 15" brood (her first trip and fish of the season). She was happy, mission accomplished. We trolled for another 45 minutes without much action and finally packed it in around 3pm.
