Wow! The morning bite has been good. It was a very windy morning, and restricted what we could do, but the bite was great. We again, pounded the indeterminate flat between Rocky Point uplake to the Bar. Most of the fish came off of little F-7 purple glow flatfish. Really focus on the depths from 200 to 220 feet deep. They come in bunches. Pretty long dead periods interspersed with wide open bites. Most of our fish over the last week have come on multiple hook ups. Monitoring your speed becomes very critical when the wind is gusting like it did today. This mornings Chinook falls into the "I'd rather be lucky than good" category. We had just gotten a fish in the boat and let the little flatfish back. The Chinook ripped it loose from the 'rigger while the ball was pulling it to the bottom at warp nine. The fish ran to the starboard side of the boat across 3 lines (without tangling?) and jumped before we could get tight on it. These really are spectacular fish when you are fortunate enough to get one hooked up. Also, I expect the kokanee fishing to get easier as the weather stabilized towards the weekend.
