Was on the lake at 8:30 am, Launched at the resort, there was a small chop on the water when we started trolling plugs, but by the time we netted the first Rainbow ( 3lb ) at about 9:00 am, the chop had increased to whitecaps, making it a real contest to keep the boat going in the right direction and netting fish. We gutted out the wind and had a great day fishing, this was my first time to fish Sprague, but my fishing buddy Roy Houle had been there several times, and as many folks know, Roy is a great fisherman.

We fished until about 3:00 pm, kept ten fish that ranged from 2 lb. to 5.5 lb. We had about thirty or more takedowns, released smaller fish and lost quite a few, Roy wanted to keep the ten for smoking, or we would have released them also. let me tell you Roy's smoked fish is a real treat. I was surprised at the fight these Rainbows put up most of them jumping four or five times, there were three of us fishing, Joe Sellers, Roy Houle and Ken New, what a great day, even if the wind was blowing. Sorry for the picture background, the wind was blowing water, and didn't want to get the camera wet, will do better next time.

sweet! Never been to Sprague, but what I've seen, move over Jameson...Sprague is now the hotspot for quality trout fishing in the state of Washington. Nice job guys!

Would anyone happen to know what the boat launch fee is at the 2 resorts and the condition of the public ramp?

ToadWater --- The launch fee at Sprauge Lake Resort is $7.00, I don't know what the fee is at Four Seasons, but assume it is comparable. There is a public launch at the end of the lake, but it does not have a dock, this makes it pretty tough to handle the boat if the wind is blowing. Four Seasons would probably be your best choice. Tight lines and big fish, kenbarb

I was just looking at the topo map of Sprague which says it's only 15 feet deep at it's deepest. Is this true? It's a pretty big lake, and it would seem if it was only 15 feet deep that it would get pretty warm and nasty by August. Anyway, that is an impressive bunch of fish you got. Way to go!

Four Seasons is the best launch. You said you launched at the resort...Sprague Lake Resort I am guessing. Four Seasons was less expensive than Sprague Lake Resort in the past. Did you stay at the Sprague end of the lake or use the entire lake?
There are places that the lake is 20 feet, fair amount at 17 feet and a large amount at 15 feet. Nice fish! They do fight well. A blast on light gear.

DougShields.com, Started fishing shortly after launching at Sprauge Lake Resort, proceeded trolling toward the island in 10' to 18' of water, going back over water that fish were congergated in. Will launch at Four Winds next trip, it was a real chore getting the boat on the trailer in two foot waves that were whitecapping, and banging the baot against the dock.
