It figures that someone other than me would catch the first fish in my new boat. Dale and I fished Liberty from about 4:30pm to 8:30. This was my first time on the lake in a boat so there was a lot of exploration to do. We started eastward from the launch, and trolled close to shore dragging various lures around. Towards the south end we hooked up with the first and only fish of the day. We didn't get a measurement, but I did get the weight. It was a healthy 2.3lb rainbow. We looped around the lake 1.5 times, then turned around and did the eastern shore for the third time on the way back to the launch. It was overcast, slightly raining, and occasionaly windy enough to make trolling a pain.

I WILL catch a fish from this boat. Grrr.

WOO HOO!! The boat is a fish catcher, first time on this lake and a fish was neted. (Let's don't examine the details) You're going to experience some great fish "Catching" out of the boat. Sounds like everything worked out well (except your catch rate), and next time is just around the corner.
Congrats on the Boats first. Nice pic. Thanks for sharing.

Liberty is fun to fish, but Aaron, start slow with the boat, don't rush it. Life long friendships with boats take time to develop and nurture, catch one then, another now, more soon, then your boat and you will be ONE for life. LOL

Aaron-
If you come out to Liberty again let me know, I live a few houses down from the public launch. I'd be happy to fill a seat if I'm not working a 15 or 16 hr day.

Excellent. I will do that. I plan on getting out there in the next 3-5 days.. maybe even twice. I have a project I'm working on out there. (shhh!)
